Orthodontic Care for Adults

Your smile is the first thing people notice when they see you. Crooked, crowded teeth or a misaligned bite can make you feel self-conscious no matter what your age. The good news is, with today’s advances in orthodontics, straighter teeth aren’t just for kids and teens anymore.

Now more than ever adults are successfully straightening their teeth for a healthier, aligned smile. Whether you’re looking for a cosmetic fix or wanting to improve your dental health, orthodontics can be used to overcome multiple issues that you may have had for years or have developed over time. This is because teeth can shift over the years even if they are healthy otherwise and affect your bite.

Changes in alignment can evolve over the years and leave you with inadequate blood supply between tooth roots because of diminishing supportive bone material or gum infections. By the time you are in your twenties, many of your bones have hardened and no longer grow. This also causes your tissue to take longer to adjust to new positions.

For those who have overbites or underbites, orthodontic treatment can be an effective treatment. This is important because misalignment makes it harder to clean teeth and sets the stage for oral bacteria and plaque to build up.

Of course, as an adult, you may not want to have metal braces visible in your smile. But there are other options available to you, including lingual braces (these are placed onto the back teeth if the teeth are long enough), ceramic braces (instead of using metal, a transparent ceramic material is used), and clear plastic aligners.

Clear aligners are one of the more popular options many adults and teens use to straighten their teeth and they are highly effective when fixing minor issues. Aligners work by wearing clear plastic aligner trays which gradually shift the teeth as you switch out the aligners every two weeks until the teeth are aligned according to the treatment plan.

Today, orthodontics is more affordable than ever, and having a healthy smile is vital for your health and it doesn’t hurt to have a great looking smile. So if you have been wanting straighter teeth and are ready for a change, we are here to help! To find out what your orthodontic options are, please give us a call today and schedule a consultation with our orthodontist. Join our team of satisfied patients by creating the straighter smile you have always wanted!

Excellent first time experience at Peach Ortho. We will be back again when it’s time for more work 🦷 Polite and helpful staff that throughly explained what to expect in a way my son and i could both understand

Peach Orthodontics in Post Falls is definitely where you want to go for your kids braces!! We setup consultations for both of my kids and from the initial phone call, the office staff were great! They made everything so easy. We were able to get both consultation appointments scheduled so we could do them at the same time. Janeen was so helpful and explained everything that was recommended for treatment for both kids, explained the various financial options and never made me feel pressured or rushed. And Dr. Rickheim was so great and friendly! He took the time to introduce himself, get to know both of my kids, and their mom and me. He even noticed I was wearing an Alaska sweatshirt and asked about that. Then shared with us his connection to Alaska, just like we were long time friends of his, yet we had just met him. He thoughly explained what he saw during the examination (in simple terms I could understand, not confusing medical jargon) and what he felt was the best treatment plan. He answered all of our questions and you could tell he genuinely cared about what was best for my kids treatment. Because of that, we signed up right then. And again, the office staff was great to work with, getting everything setup and getting the kids ready for their treatment process. Plus the office staff was able to accommodate setting up the financials so it was split between myself and the kids mom, which made things even easier for us. I have never seen any staff member who wasn't friendly or smiling and we have been in a couple times already. Peach Orthodontics is just great all around in my opinion and I definitely will tell anyone needing orthodontic care to go to them!

We’ve had such a great experience with Peach! Their entire staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and truly accommodating for our family. From scheduling appointments to every visit in the chair, they go out of their way to make everything smooth and stress-free. They are patient, kind, and always take the time to explain things clearly. We couldn’t be happier with the care we’ve received and would highly recommend them to any family looking for an orthodontist.

Benefits of Orthodontic Care for Adults

Orthodontic care for adults goes beyond just improving the appearance of your smile. Straighter teeth can also make it easier to chew, speak, and maintain good oral hygiene. Correcting misaligned bites can alleviate jaw pain and reduce the risk of developing gum disease or tooth decay. By investing in orthodontic treatment as an adult, you can improve both your oral health and overall quality of life.

Choosing the Right Orthodontic Option

When considering orthodontic treatment as an adult, it’s important to explore all of your options to find the best fit for your needs and lifestyle. Traditional metal braces may be effective for some, while others may prefer the subtle appearance of clear aligners or ceramic braces. Consult with our orthodontist to discuss the pros and cons of each option and determine the best course of treatment for achieving a healthier, more aligned smile.
